Internet Netsuke Resourcehttp://127.0.0.1/topic/1669-internet-netsuke-resource/I have posted this information for a huge web resource about netsuke for Norman Sandfield, who has been a netsuke dealer for 30 years. His focus has shifted to compiling this great resource, and wishes to make it available to all who are interested in netsuke and have access to the internet.

Janel

-------------------------------

Internetsuke.com -- The GATEWAY TO NETSUKE INFORMATION and RESOURCES IN THE 21ST CENTURY*

Includes:

The U/ltimate Netsuke Bibliography/ as a Searchable On-Line Database (TUNB-SOLD) (With more than 6,500 records in 220 categories and subcategories, continually updated)

Based on /The Ultimate Netsuke Bibliography/ - the book (1999). In its 384 pages are 95 pages---including twelve Appendices and four Indices---of introductory and supplemental materials that are *not* in the /TUNB-SOLD,/ on-line database. Available at www.Paragonbook.com

Links to the /Norman L. Sandfield Library of Netsuke and Oriental Art /at the /Toledo Museum of Art Library/, with more than 4,000 volumes on netsuke related publications.

http://www.toledomuseum.org/PDF/Sandfield_Library.pdf

/Fuld's Netsuke and Ojime Index /(FNOI, v. 9) - Searchable On-Line, with 60,000 netsuke records; allowing the user to find the original sources for illustrations of netsuke and to access the information on those netsuke, even when the original publication is not easily available. In Memoriam: Salomon Samuel (Sal) Fuld (1933-2008)

The /Netsuke Image Gallery,/ the newest part of the site, a searchable on-line catalog of more than 6,000 images of fine netsuke and related artwork. (All of the images in the Netsuke Image Gallery are just for your viewing pleasure. They are not being offered for sale. I did not, and do not have them, own them, or know where they are. Many thanks for looking.)

The /Authority Record File for Netsuke Authors/ (more than 1,580 netsuke authors). An authority record is a collection of information about one name, uniform title, or topical term heading, which allows consistency in bibliographic documentation.

The/ "Cheat Sheet" for Netsuke Signatures. / A guide to 102 of the most common and important Japanese characters found in netsuke signatures.

/The Inro Knot Booklet./ A step-by-step illustrated guide to tying different knots for hanging medicine boxes.

TRY IT! YOU WILL LIKE IT! IT"S FREE!

PHOTO IMAGE SIZE, PAY ATTENTION TO THIShttp://127.0.0.1/topic/1461-photo-image-size-pay-attention-to-this/It was, and is still, very strongly recommend that the image pixel and file size to aim to FIT WITHIN THESE GUIDELINES!!!

- 72 dpi

- JPEG works great

- around 640 x 480 pixel dimension

- and around 50 K file size

Help the forum members who have slow, land line, computer modems, by posting the above recommended file sizes for your images, and also help the forum by taking less storage space in the forum's file storage area.

Thank you!
