Bob T
As a new member (intro posted in Who's Who) I'm wondering what the current preference is among collectors of netsuke. Do the majority lean more toward shibui or rococo, the beauty of simplicity or bells, whistles, filigree and furbelows? Thanks. Bob T
Janel
I do not think that there is an answer to your question. The realm of contemporary netsuke collection is quite a small audience, each with different preferences and styles of collecting. Those who collect antique netsuke also have different approaches to their purchasing habits. With either version of collection habit (by a rather simplistic observation) whether contemporary or antique, some collect work from individual artists, some purchase what they fall in love with.
