Mark Strom
This is the latest project. I was looking through my drawings and design idea book and just could not resist working on this. I have got to the point of carving in the main hair groups and forms. The head was done using a Fordom with a blue stone. At this point I am just trying to establish groups, movements and contours. The entire piece will be reworked several times to get everything refined so that I get the feel that I am looking for. The horns have been lightly carved with a diamond burr to establish the rhythm of the bone shape and contours of the grooves. This is a little more complex and refined then the rest of it but is the part I really am looking forward to doing. The ram is just such a fantastic subject and is just really suited to this type of work. Hope you all enjoy. Mark www.stromcarver.com

Janel
Hi Mark, Is this from one piece of wood? It is already a very handsome piece. The use of the background/foreground is very effective with this composition. Janel
