I bought it, and am very happy to be reading it. Understanding Wood Finishing: How to Select and Apply the Right Finish by Bob Flexner Completely revised and updated, October 2010 An American Woodworker Book Fox Chapel Publishing ISBN 978-1-56523-566-3 $24.95 US Bob Flexner, a wood worker, studied the chemistry of wood finishes beginning with using a local university engineering library. He presents and dispels numerous myths and delves deeply into the makeup and character of wood and finishes. This book is a very helpful and useful resource. I have a better understanding of what I have in cans and jars in my studio, and it helps to explain the how and why of what I have only intuited as I made choices between products over the years. Where there are loads of books on this subject i think this might be a great buy! Many people usually recommend Jeff Jewitt's "Great Wood Finishes", but having read both, I prefer Bob Flexner.
