im looking for any carvers that are found in the south chicago area. i would like to see and talk in person about your set up, the types of tools you prefer for most carving use, your materials or where you get your materials. and possibly make a trade of wood for any other carving material. im also inturested in geting some bone dust/chips that i can use for inlay material in my classes wood turning projects.

would be inturesting to telling the kids that i have mammoth tusk, or wallruss tusk, cow horn, antler, stone, water buffalo horn, ect... then when we make wood projects i can help them do a inlay in the project. im guessing most people toss their dust in the garbage after they finish a carving but i can use it for decorating in my classroom and would be inturested in a trade. perhaps if your own art work calls for inlay meterial we can trade as i have stock piled alot of wood dust of several types of trees, even have a little brass and some dyed sand.

hey thanks for the offer tony ill hop in my car and drive over and get some :)

i wonder i have a ton of resin wonder if it can be mixed with the bone dust like coloring agent and then the resin be carved :) make the that ivory or ancient mammel bone go a long way. when i serously sit down and start carving ill give it a sample try and see how it turns out with some beef bones.
