michael B
A good friend visited me today to polish these two pieces of matrix, these will be shown at the Lightning ridge gem show this weekend, the large piece is 750 grams and 70 grams for the small one, I have some of this to carve one day when my work load slows, this is the largest and best color I have seen, it is a treated limestone matrix, it can be a challenge to polish even after sealing with opticon. michael B
You may find some at the Tucson gem & mineral show, they did have some there this year, untreated, there is a opal shop in Lightning ridge that sells this, quite high prices for the treated and polished stone, the large piece is apparently worth around $ 15 to 20 K, 3 to 5 K for the smaller one, the bright red fire is worth heaps more than the blue greens, but with any gem finding a buyer to pay that may take a while.
