Dan
I hurt myself last night. its bad enough that im mentioning it on here. I was cutting some bowl blanks on my band saw for my lathe and the blade is dull so I was pushing too hard. when it cut through and it jumped on me and dug into my hand. 13 stitches later in my little pinky and a tendon that pooped loose I have to go see a ortho surgen and get my hand worked on. thing to learn from this is work with sharp tools. now im looking at weeks out of shop and a lot of pain on my birthday and a number of my families birthdays in the month of june. make sure you are using sharp tools so you don't have push too hard. Dan
just a heads up had to have the tendon reattached with an operation. looking at minimum 4 weeks in brace while it heals. plus I need therapy to get the strength back. wont be doing much lathe or hand carving work but after I get rid of the bulky brace and the heals over some I hope to do some power carving, scroll saw and some inlay work. Janel
" Think Ahead " Patience. Keep your tools sharp and cut away from your flesh. Mark a no finger zone on your band saw or other power tool that could instantly change your life forever. Then, honor that zone and honor your body by keeping it safe. Patience. Breathe and think through the cuts before turning on the saw. Practice patience and carefulness and be aware of the blade.
