margie burgess
Michael entered the abstract carving section in the international opal jewelry design awards, great result, he did not want to post so I will brag for him, tough comp with entries world wide, and considering its his first opal carving a great result, but he said its no harder than carving jade. michael B
Thanks Janel, this design just worked, not a tough gem opal, much more care than jade, finding good opal at a reasonable price is extremely difficult, will start on a new carving in a few weeks. michael B
Thanks Mace & Dan, it was my first visit to Lightning Ridge for these awards, very small little town but very worm welcome, the most professional run comp I have entered, they even offered to pay for my familys accommodation, heaps of opal dealers and other gems, one dealer even had jade from Tasmania, he said it was nephrite but contained pyroxine crystals, Jadeite ?. Cheers michael B
