Peach Pit Carving.

Little back history I was looking up some home made pen blanks for turning pens looking at some made from cherry pits and other seeds.so I came across a pen made from peach pits. I liked the look of the pen and thought I would like to make my own. So after doing some research on using resin and making my own blanks i came across peach pit carving. Has anyone done that before? What does it feel like to carve? Can you give me a comparison? Is it any fun?

Hi Dan,

Yes, I carved one quite a long time ago: Clouds & Trees I recall wishing that a solid form of peach pit material existed. It felt good when carving it, having little or no grain to it. The seed was oily, and the woody part would not take color very easily. I think that I used a little oil paint in the recesses, for contrast, but it did not hold fast, needing a long drying time.

Use "peach" in the SEARCH field, you will fine a few other carved peach pits shown in old posts on TCP.
