Alternative Materials

I'm primarily a wood turner but lately I have been wanting to play with different materials. I had thought to work with Bowleite it's what lapidary people call when they shape the outside part of bowling balls. I had also thought to get some epoxy based fake fordite. Has anyone else seen some fun or unusual materials that I could shape or turn on my lathe? Here is a video on working with bathe materials.
