U.K. Kiwi
Kia Ora all im Dominic and I'm based in the U.K. I have taken up doing bone carvings recently to create some taonga to pass down to family. Currently I'm using beef bone and antler to practice on but would be grateful for any advice on hand tools like gravers especially on how to make your own. I'm also looking for sources of whalebone outside of NZ. Have included photos of two pieces I'm working on at the moment.
Brenda
Looks great. What are you using now? Are taonga hard to find?
U.K. Kiwi
Hiya Brenda Taonga is Maori for treasure. The two pieces above are beef bone and once completed I will give them away as it's a tradition that taonga should be gifted.
