Pavel H
Greetings to all. Every year, a course in the production of a classic puppet is held in a small village in an disused primary school. This is a puppet that I made here last year. Nice weekend 😉
Janel
This is marvelous Pavel! Â Thank you for the many photos to see it in progress. Are you the instructor? The head and face are a pleasing surprise! Â I am glad that it is a friendly one, to calm down the arachnophobes' fears. Janel
Pavel H
Dear Janel, thank you for the nice review. I was on this course for the first time 20 years ago, but I'm not an instructor. The instructor is a carver and actor of professional puppet theater. For me, this course is now the only opportunity to spend 8 days of uninterrupted work a year. Invent, carve and complete an entire project at once. Janel
That sounds like a dream time! Â Uninterrupted work time! Â Never happens for me anymore. Â But, that is the way that interesting lives go. Â The insight that your instructor can imbue in the teaching must be both practical with the carving knowledge and creative the experience from professional use of puppets. Â Is there also discussion of developing stories and creating the characters that illustrate the storyline? Janel
Pavel H
The original goal of the course is to play a puppet show for children in the old barn on hay at the end of the course. Every year a new fairy tale is invented, the roles are divided and everyone carves out their character, paints and ties their puppet, learns their role, and plays their part in the fairy tale. Of course, during the course, the construction of puppets, puppet theater, etc. is discussed. Pavel
Janel
This is so good to learn more about! Â I am curious about the fairy tale that involved your marvelous spider character. Â It has such a friendly and pleasant face. Â (not scary at all). I love seeing the photos of the sculptor/puppeteers and the stage, and the great young audience! Â Thank you! Pavel H
I'm afraid I'll let you down. The theater was not performed last year due to the Covid epidemic. I made this puppet to learn the mechanics of moving a creature with multiple limbs. The model for the puppet was Czech professional rock climber Adam Ondra https://adamondra.com/. He climbs the walls like a spider :-) have a nice day everyone Pavel
Janel
Pavel, you made me smile when you described who the model for the spider was! Â Well done! Have you mastered the skills for moving the limbs of the spider? Â What a great and pleasing challenge that project must have been. Janel
