Posting Photos

Hello, (There is also a HELP option on this forum. There are helpful tips and topics there too.)

 

Here are simplified instructions for posting photos:

 

Click > Fast Reply (at the lower, right part of the topic window)

 

Click > More Options (opens another window with more options to use)

 

>Write your text and when ready to add the image(s) follow this route

 

Click > Browse (goes to your hard drive files, select the image file, JPEG at about 640 x 480 pixel dimensions, 50 K file size)

 

Select the image file

 

Click > Add This Attachment- wait for it to load

 

Select where you want the image to appear in your message

 

Click > Add into Post

(scroll down a little)

 

Click > Add Reply ***

 

Click > Go

 

***(click Add Reply first or the image and text will not be posted. If you click go first, click your back button to regain the text and image work page)

Thank you to each of you who strive to make your images fit the recommended sizes with pixel dimensions and KB file size. When detail is in danger of being lost with trying to fit the guidelines, it has to be ok to up the KB a bit to retain the detail, IMO. Going over a bit now and then is fine with me, I do it myself. What gets us into trouble is consistently going over by a huge amount, or causing the framework of the forum to go over size. I'll squeak when it needs to be pointed out to anyone. Thanks again for being aware and for doing the work to make the images fit. These images and illustrations make this forum a hugely valuable resource for the members.

Update to posting images using the newer version of forum software (okay, I am a year late with it, sorry).

 

To include a photo within a post:

 

- Click in the Fast Reply text box

- Click "Use Full Editor" button

- Type your text

 

 

>>> Please prepare your images before uploading them. Please follow the guidelines of approximately 640 x 480 pixel dimension, 72 dpi or ppi, 50 to under 100 K file size. <<<

(If you see a reference to 35 MB or 64 MB upload quota or single file size, please do not assume that this limit is for you. This refers more to the limits of the forum's overall storage, which I pay for. Your files should not exceed 100 K each, and would be better at a lower number. Thank you.)

 

- Click the "Click To Attach Files" button

- Navigate to the location of the file on your computer

- Click "Open"

- Repeat this step if you have more photos to upload

 

 

 

- Please note, you can put the images into the text field, or after it, by placing the cursor where the image is going to go. You can also add a line of space (or more) between images by using your "return" or "enter" button to add the spaces where you want them to be.

 

 

 

- Place the cursor where you want the image to appear in your post.

- Click "Add to Post"

 

- Repeat the previous two steps until you have added each image where you want them to be.

 

( If you wish to delete an image, click the red "Delete" button, AND if there is a 'code' line in the text box, delete that also, or it will be seen as text in the final post. Example of what you will see: Delete this sort of text when you delete the image. )

 

 

 

- When you are ready to post, click "Add Reply" towards the bottom of the page. You must remember to do this particular step, or it will all go away. If by chance that happens, click your 'back' button to see if anything remains that is useful and try clicking the Add Reply button again.

April 20, 2014 update to posting images .

 

To include a photo within a post:

- Type your text

- Then: Click "Choose Files" which goes to your hard drive where you may select images to upload.

PS: A tip: If there is a lot of background area in the photo that is not germane to the subject or intention of the photo, use a "crop" tool to remove the extra pixel area. That then makes the remaining subject fill the frame, and when resized to recommended approximate dimensions, the subject will be larger than if it is surrounded by the excess background area.
