Ed Twilbeck
This is some of the sanding tools I make to use with my foredom or a Dremel tool. I cut some sanding strips to 1/4 wide, and 2 to 3 inches long , I make at least 8 and up to 10 or 12 for each tool . Find the center and with an awl punch a small hole. I Stack them back to back and mount them on a mandrel. Most of the time I make them with 240 grit or finer up to the 1000 s . They have worked well to smooth and shine any wood that I have used. Works great to remove tool marks. At 240 grit they will remove material, at high speeds. I use a slow speed and a tender touch. And then control up from there. The finer grits will polish the material . I do not use them when I have fine detail to finish. The string wheel is made from nylon string and cut to 2 to 3 inches attached to a drum sanding mandrel and then untwisted. I use it with polishing compound, and to wax. Use it a a slow speed I can work it in and around detail to polish and wax, with hard wood it does not seem to hurt details. I welcome any and all comments ..
